Delivering M&E Maintenance to the Dynamic Roundhouse
What is the Roundhouse?
The Roundhouse is a charity performance arts and concert venue, in London, supporting young people to push creative boundaries and make unforgettable moments. As a vital part of the London community since 1960, the Roundhouse has always provided an inclusive, safe space for young artists to be creative, experiment and develop their passion. With the Roundhouse being a venue, their estates team needed a dedicated and diligent hard facilities management team to ensure optimised site operations that wouldn’t negatively impact any events being held on site. When going out to tender, Artic Building Services was one of many M&E building services companies in competition for the contract and proudly won after a competitive tender process.
Challenges at the Roundhouse
As a charity, it is critical that site operations remain uninterrupted by M&E equipment faults to ensure no events are cancelled. Cancelled events would have a detrimental cost impact to the Roundhouse and impede on their ability to support the local community. The criticality of the site’s hard FM means that the Roundhouse needed a facilities management company in London which could expertly deliver vital M&E services in line with strict time boundaries and a dedication to seeing the site operating to its full potential.
The critical nature of the site is not the only challenge at the Roundhouse, what makes the site unique is its physical infrastructure and installation of the plant in the venue. The building is a listed building, proudly a part of the national heritage list for England, and because of its unique history some service areas involve challenging access such as underneath concrete flooring and high ceiling assets, all of which needs special care and expert knowledge to maintain.
